15:00 Decision on Proposal 1.2020:
It is proposed to replace the E4.5 test series “condensed phase ignition” of HSE by a profound thermodynamical assessment, including the conditions surrounding the explosion observed in 2011.
Background: HSE has had two scheduled deliveries of LH2 in September 2019. As part of these deliveries HSE has
Performed 25 tests for E3.5 (Rainout), many more than planned (10)
Performed 7 tests for E4.3 (Electrostatic measurements)
Performed 2 tests for E4.5 (Condensed phase tests): these tests are the unignited RPT investigation
Performed 23 tests for E5.5 (Ignition tests), many more than planned (10).
Essentially, HSE has more than completed the testing for WP3 and WP5. With regard to WP4 HSE has completed E4.3 and have performed a couple of relevant tests for E4.5. As the experimental work progressed it became clear that the planned tests on the condensed phase would have a limited chance of providing useful data.
15:30 Decision on Proposal 2.2020:
It is proposed that the coordinator applies for a budget neutral extension of the project by 5 months (until May 2021).
Background: Delays in the experimental work of KIT, PS and INERIS have been reported at the mid-term review, what caused a recommendation for a budget-neutral extension by the reviewers. Further problems occurred with the experimental work of KIT, PS and INERIS requiring unforeseen construction of new facilities (MIE measurement and stratified layered explosions). LH2 delivery at KIT was delayed for several reasons. Finally, the CORVID-19 pandemic outbreak is imposing additional constraints.
